Chinese dumpling - Mantou


Wheat flour 200 ml, 1 tea spoon of yeast, 1/4 tea spoon of sugar, water

  1. Mix the flour, yeast, sugar and some water (just as you make pizza). Warm your bake oven to about 40 ℃. Switch off the oven. Put the mixture into the oven and wait for about 2 hr.
  2. Knead the dough. If it is steaky, add some dry flour. Knead it until it is glossy but not sticky.
  3. Divide the dough into smaller parts.
  4. Knead and make every part to a ball. Press each ball lightly, so that it gets a flat buttom.
  5. After you have finished forming all the dough parts, put them into a steamer. Wait for 20 minutes.
  6. Steam with quick oven.
  7. After the water in the steamer have boiled, steam 8 minutes again with quick oven.
